blogsTickets, Touring, and Controversy Surround Justin TimberlakeJustin Timberlake's ongoing FutureSex/LoveShow tour, is scheduled to continue through March 2007, with the sexy male singer threatening to reach new heights. The album of the same name, which the tour supports, has sold several million copies, and the pop idol is in greater demand than ever. The album has generated several No. 1 singles, including "SexyBack","My Love," and "What Goes Around ... Comes Around". But controversy has reared its ugly head in the midst of Timberlake's assault on American hearts. Following an apparent series of hoax events in which the idol was purported to be planning autograph signing sessions for the public, Justin Timberlake's record label, Jive, stated February 27 that "any and all individuals or venues that are promoting that Justin Timberlake will attend, sign, or perform at their after party or events are completely misleading the public. Justin Dominates MTV EuropeThis week's MTV Europe Music Awards left Justin Timberlake and Gnarls Barkley with both hands full. The two took the top awards of the evening, which Timberlake hosted. Justin was awarded Best Male and Best Pop Act for his recent release, “Sexy Black/LoveSounds.” Gnarls was awarded the prestigious Future Sound award, which was determined through a vote cast by his peers. He also won Best Song for “Crazy” which has done crazy-good on the charts, as it has with radio play and downloads. Christina Aguilera was deemed Best Female Act, taking the award from Beyonce and Shakira. Madonna was also nominated for the honor, along with two other nods she lost. Though she was extremely successful last year, this year, eh…goose egg. Sorry Madge, but you already have your hands full at home. Love Sounds like Jay TeeFutureSex/LoveSounds is still number one, after debuting in that position on the Billboard chart, selling 684,000 copies its first week. It's also the biggest album ever for pre-orders on iTunes, and beat Coldplay's record for the biggest one-week sales of a digital album! Luckily, this month Jay Tee confirmed that he would focus on his music career rather than his film roles, since, as he put it, it would be a "dumb thing to do at this point" to leave the music industry. Even though he's created the William Rast clothing line for Bloomingdales and has a restaurant chain, thank goodness he's going to give music his all. |
